We had a really productive morning in school today working with Lisa from the NHS With Me in Mind service and our Mental Health Governor, Mrs Morgan. 💚
Together, we looked at how we can continue to improve and develop our mental health and wellbeing offer across school, including how we can develop the use of The Sanctuary as a sensory, relaxation and calm space for our children.
Lots of positive ideas and exciting plans to build on over the weeks and months ahead, including looking at introducing school well being ambassadors. Parents and carers will also have opportunities to meet Lisa and her team across the year too with some really useful workshops - further information to follow.
🐭 🌲 “A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood…” 🌲 🐭
…and yesterday, our EYFS and KS1 children were lucky enough to venture back into the deep dark wood for a very special event! We were delighted to secure places for the exclusive online launch of Gruffalo Granny – the brand-new story from Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler and the first new Gruffalo adventure in over 20 years!
The children joined Julia and Axel live as they introduced their much-anticipated new book, heard more about how the story and illustrations were created, and enjoyed being amongst some of the very first children to discover the latest member of the Gruffalo family.
“The Gruffalo said to his daughter one day,
‘Your Gruffalo Granny is coming to stay.’”
What a wonderful way to celebrate our love of reading at Wootton! 📖
On behalf of the governors, it was a pleasure to welcome Mrs Morgan to school this week, who presented each of our new starters with their own copy of the Bible.
Throughout their time at Wootton, the children will explore many of the stories, people and teachings found within the Bible through RE and Collective Worship, helping them to develop their understanding of the Christian faith and its importance to our school’s vision and values.

Last week, we were delighted to find out that our application for the School Games Mark had been successful and that we have achieved GOLD status! 🥇
We may be a small village school, but we have big ambitions when it comes to sport! This fantastic achievement recognises our commitment to providing high-quality PE, sport and physical activity opportunities for all of our children.
A huge well done to our pupils and staff, and a special thank you to Get Ahead for their continued support in helping us provide such a strong sporting offer across the school.
We’re looking forward to continuing to take part in competitions at Baysgarth throughout the year! 🏃♀️🏆
Welcome back to Wootton!
A huge welcome back to all of our children returning to school today, with an extra-special welcome to the families joining us for the very first time.
We’d also like to wish our fantastic Year 6 leavers the very best of luck as they begin their secondary school journey this week - continue to let your light shine!
We’ve been very busy over the summer improving our outdoor areas, and we are incredibly grateful to CANPACKUK for generously sponsoring all the work, including our new outdoor classroom, The Sanctuary.
Over the coming weeks and months, The Sanctuary will become a special space for pages, peace and prayer – a library, prayer and reflection space, and calm sensory area for our children.
A further thank you to the following people and businesses who brought the project to life, some providing their services at no/low cost - DH Aggregates, Down to Earth Recycling, Timclad, Concept Construction, John Espin Signs and Darren, Steve, Gordon and Graham.
Here’s to another wonderful year of journeying together in the light of Love, Joy, Courage and Trust.

A huge congratulations to our pupil who was recognised by Get Ahead as their KS2 Sports Leader of the Year, pictured with our amazing sport’s teacher - Mr Adamson!
Over the last two years, she has planned, organised and led a lunchtime sports club that is exceptionally well attended each week, inspiring younger pupils to get active and develop new skills.
This award is thoroughly deserved and reflects her commitment, leadership and enthusiasm. We couldn't be prouder of everything she has achieved.
Meeting Ben Shires was certainly a highlight of the evening too!
